The inFamous franchise, dormant since 2014's Second Son, may be headed for a comeback at PlayStation, though not from the studio that built it. VGC journalist Jordan Middler said on his podcast this week that he believes Sony has an inFamous project underway somewhere within PlayStation Studios, separate from original developer Sucker Punch Productions.
"I'm under the impression that there is an Infamous thing happening somewhere else in PlayStation at the minute," Middler said, adding directly that the project does not appear to be tied to Sucker Punch. The journalist did not specify which PlayStation Studios team may be working on the title or whether the project is a remake, remaster, or new entry in the series.
inFamous Timeline | From 2009 to Silence in 2014
Sucker Punch released the original inFamous in 2009, followed by inFamous 2 in 2011 and inFamous: Second Son in 2014 as a PlayStation 4 launch-window title. Second Son sold more than one million copies within its first nine days, making it one of the fastest-selling PlayStation exclusives at that time. A standalone follow-up, inFamous: First Light, arrived later in 2014. Since then, Sucker Punch shifted focus entirely to Ghost of Tsushima, released in 2020.
A remake collection would fit an established Sony pattern. PlayStation has revisited dormant franchises across multiple studios, including the Demon's Souls remake by Bluepoint Games and the Ratchet and Clank remaster pipeline, both produced without the original developers in primary creative roles.
Sucker Punch | Post-Tsushima Direction Still Unannounced
Sucker Punch's next project has not been officially announced as of May 2026. Ghost of Tsushima received a Director's Cut in 2021 and a PC port in 2024. The studio has been publicly quiet about what follows. If an inFamous collection is moving through a separate PlayStation team, Sucker Punch remains free to develop something entirely new.
Middler's comments are not sourced to an official PlayStation announcement and should be treated as early-stage industry intelligence. No release window or platform confirmation has been issued. Written by Max DeLeonardis, Gaming Desk.
