Insomniac Games is officially kicking off the show. Sony has confirmed that Marvel's Wolverine will receive an extended gameplay segment, the most substantial public look at the game since its initial reveal. Sony's own language promises a showcase of "Logan's brutal and relentless combat," which directly signals that the close-quarters, visceral brawling system Insomniac has been building will finally be shown at length.^[2]

With a September 15, 2026 release date locked, this State of Play appearance functions as the game's primary pre-launch marketing moment. Insomniac's track record with the Spider-Man series gives the studio significant credibility heading into a completely different Marvel IP, and the gameplay reveal tomorrow will be the first real test of whether Wolverine's combat identity stands apart from what the studio built for Peter Parker and Miles Morales.

The biggest unconfirmed appearance on the show is Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet from Naughty Dog. The game was first revealed 18 months ago with a cinematic teaser introducing Jordan A. Mun, a bounty hunter stranded on a cut-off planet called Sempiria. Since that reveal, Naughty Dog and director Neil Druckmann have said almost nothing publicly, other than Druckmann describing it as the studio's "most ambitious game" ever.^[3]

Industry insiders are pointing heavily toward a gameplay debut tomorrow. If accurate, this would be the show's defining moment: Naughty Dog's first new IP since The Last of Us, from the director who shaped modern PlayStation narrative gaming, getting its first real gameplay reveal after a year and a half of silence. The rumor has enough sourcing behind it that its absence would be the more surprising outcome.

Santa Monica Studio's next project is the showcase's second major rumor. Two distinct scenarios are circulating among industry sources: a God of War spin-off focused on Kratos' wife, Faye, exploring the events the main trilogy referenced but never depicted, or an entirely new IP directed by Cory Barlog, the architect of the 2018 God of War reimagining. Either would represent a significant announcement.

The Faye spin-off rumor has the more specific sourcing, but Barlog's public comments over the past year have consistently gestured toward something new rather than a continuation of the Kratos arc. Both possibilities are credible. If either appears tomorrow, it becomes the show's second headline alongside Intergalactic.
