GTA 6 | The Flagship Title
Grand Theft Auto VI is the most anticipated video game in history. Rockstar Games confirmed a November 19, 2026 release date for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Set in the State of Leonida, a fictional analogue to Florida, the game features dual protagonists Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos in a modern Bonnie-and-Clyde narrative framed around Vice City's influencer economy.
GTA 6 is widely reported to be the most expensive entertainment product ever produced, with development costs estimated between $1 billion and $2 billion. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick has stated the company expects consumers to pay a premium for the title. The complete guide to everything confirmed is available on the GTA 6 hub page.
Rockstar Studios | Structure and History
Rockstar Games was founded in 1998 as a publishing label of Take-Two Interactive. The company operates through a network of studios: Rockstar North (Edinburgh, lead developer of the GTA series), Rockstar San Diego (RAGE engine),Rockstar Leeds, Rockstar Toronto, Rockstar India, and Rockstar Dundee. Rockstar New England and Rockstar London round out the development network.
The studio's proprietary RAGE engine (Rockstar Advanced Game Engine) powers all modern Rockstar titles. GTA 6 runs on an evolved version of RAGE that incorporates real-time global illumination, advanced water simulation, and a procedural animation system visible in both official trailers. Rockstar has not licensed RAGE to third-party developers.
Rockstar's development culture has been the subject of significant reporting. A 2018 investigation by Kotaku documented extensive crunch periods during Red Dead Redemption 2's development. In 2026, former developers told OzoneNews they were never compensated for 100-hour crunch weeks during GTA 5's development. Read the full GTA 5 crunch investigation.
Take-Two Interactive | Parent Company
Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. is the parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K Games. Headquartered in New York City, Take-Two is publicly traded on NASDAQ under the ticker TTWO. The company's market capitalization exceeded $30 billion in 2025, driven primarily by the GTA franchise and the anticipation of GTA 6.
Take-Two's fiscal year 2026 guidance projects record revenue, with analysts attributing the forecast almost entirely to GTA 6's expected launch. The company has publicly assured platform holders Sony and Microsoft that GTA 6 will not be delayed beyond November 2026. Take-Two's AI-focused restructuring of Rockstar's development teams, announced in early 2026, is understood to be partly aimed at powering procedural elements of GTA 6's multiplayer world.
